An Open Sea Reject

When I saw this card over on the Pretty Impact blog I fell in love with it! I just knew I had to case it......but it all went downhill from there :(

I was happily stamping away, thinking how much my regular ladies were going to love doing this card in with their nautical cards.....and then I didn't have any of that lovely Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon. I substituted it with Marina Mist Striped Grosgrain Ribbon......and here is the result:

No where near as gorgeous as the original :( The more I look at it, the more I don't like it. Here's the inside:

How cute is he?? I used a little bit of the retired Elegant Soiree DSP for his body, and the gorgeous Red Glimmer Paper (Summer Mini Catalogue) heart tops it off. I have popped him onto a magnetic clip.....now where am I going to use him???

Sarah asked me to use this retired Stampin' Up! set called The Lighthouse. I have kept the same layout and dimensions as my Open Sea card, just changed the colours.

I love the simplicity of this card. A little bit of colouring would step it up a notch, but the girls will have to wait and see if that is what I have in store for them!!

Can't you just imagine this gorgeous box filled with cookies, or some other home made Christmas delight? I can.....but thought it would be a little dangerous for my waist line to add any such thing to it just yet!

My cookie box showcases the gorgeous new Designer Series Paper called Letters To Santa perfectly! I have added a tag made using the brand new Two Tags Die, a sentiment from the stamp set Tags Til Christmas, and some Cherry Cobbler seam binding to finish it off.

My card features the beautiful ornament from the Tags Til Christmas Stamp set, as well as Baroque Motifs and Four The Holidays, 2 sets I was really pleased to see in the new catalogue! Add some Top Note die cuts, some Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding and a Rhinestone, and we're done :)

I have another card to share with you today using the fabulous Jolly Holiday DSP. I just ordered another 3 packs of it before it retires, so you will be seeing quite a bit more of it in the days to come!

I love this layout! It suits the bauble from Contempo Christmas so well.

My first Christmas card for the year has finally been made! I actually did sign up for the Christmas Card Challenge over on Splitcoast Stampers again this year.....after my dismal effort last year I was pretty determined to do better this year.....but with moving house and whatever other excuses that sound great but can't be thought of right now, it just hasn't happened. I will start soon......I hope!

Anyways, on to my card:

Excuse the photography....I have taken about 45 photos of this one, but just couldn't seem to get it right. Anyways, I used the colour combination of Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla, which was the colour challenge over at Just Add Ink last week, but of course I am too late to enter. I also used last week's sketch from Clean and Simple Stamping.

It seems I just can't make a card now without doing the inside too:

Accordion Photo Cube

This gorgeous photo cube was one of the projects shown at the U Stamp With Dawn And Friends Big Shot Brilliance 2010 session. It is an accordion album made into a cube, and is so clever!

As you can see, I am yet to find the perfect photos to put into it, but I can add them later!

I love the Sunny Garden designer series paper, and will be sad to see it go at the end of this catalogue. It's so bright and cheery, and lovely to work with on these Melbourne winter days.

Wait til you see why!!

Isn't that just gorgeous?? Now you can definitely see why I was sad to give Sew Suite back to Deb!! My ladies absolutely loved it! I wonder how many of these Deb has made since Monday?? LOL!

I saw this dress over at Constantly Stamping and fell in love with it! So I went through some old sketch challenge layouts I had saved and found the perfect layout to show off my dress!! I already have visions of making this card in pink with some tule as a ballerina card for Chloe's birthday next year! Lucky Deb said I can borrow the stamp set whenever I like!! You may live to regret saying that Deb, it's possible that it may spend more time living at my house than yours!!

I couldn't get a good photo of the inside of the card :( A little designer series paper, some pleated black satin ribbon, pearls and LOTS of mini glue dots make the inside of the card so elegant!

This concludes my Sew Suite shares :( Well.....at least until I get my hands on it again!! I will try to pop back later with something else for you to see.

Just popping in quickly to share the second card we made on Monday using Sew Suite :)

I cased this fabulous card, although I did make a few minor changes. I have matted my sewing machines onto Cherry Cobbler and used the Scallop Trim Border Punch down the side. Last, but not least, I used Whisper White Satin Ribbon because we don't have the gorgeous seam binding yet.....but I have my fingers crossed that it will be in the new catalogue :)

I must admit, I really didn't think much of this stamp set at all. So, when one of my regular ladies, Deb *waving at you Deb* brought the stamp set and asked me to make some cards with it I was a little bit worried! After having the stamp set for two weeks, scouring the internet for design ideas, inspiration finally hit on Saturday! I was actually sad to give it back to her yesterday. I never thought I would say that :)

I found this gorgeous card, which I have cased.

A 60th Birthday

We attended a surprise 60th birthday party last Saturday. I had no idea at all what sort of card to make for the birthday boy, so after hours trawling Splitcoaststampers I finally settled on this card:

I made these cute little boxes to give to my regular ladies last Monday, and filled them with Hershey's Kisses. They loved them!

Eat Chocolate was one of the first stamp sets I brought from this current Mini Catalogue. As soon as I saw it I knew they made it just for me! Unfortunately, this is the only time it has seen ink so far :(

I have been spending WAY too much time looking around Splitcoaststampers lately! I am way behind on my Google Reader subscriptions, and I have 363 pages of favourites saved on Splitcoast! I think it is time to do more creating and less time looking :)

At Stampin' Up!'s Melbourne Regionals last year I received the most gorgeous swap card from the very talented Jane McGlade-Smith. It has been on my "I gotta have a go at doing that" list for the longest time, and I finally got around to doing it!

While the photography leaves a lot to be desired, the card is stunning! We made this at my Brayer Technique Class, and the ladies were delighted at how easy this technique is.

Sense of Time was another one of those stamp sets that I had been looking at for ages, but hadn't brought, so when I earned myself a free stamp set during Sale-A-Bration that's what I chose. It makes beautiful masculine cards, which are always sadly lacking in my stash!

I found this fabulous sketch over at the Got Sketch blog and knew exactly what I wanted to make with it!

I love it! Bashful Blue and Marina Mist look so good together!

I teamed Pretty in Pink with Regal Rose for the girl version, and I love it just as much!

I've been busy....

Isn't it just gorgeous?? It's certainly the answer to my lack of space while we are living with my parents, that's for sure!

On the left side I am keeping all my stamp sets. The smaller pockets are holding my punch collection. The right side has plenty of room for embellishments, Big Shot dies and embossing folders, Ribbons, and whatever else I find to put in there! I haven't finished putting everything in there yet, but the excitement levels are so high that I just had to share!

Here's a closer view of where I will be working :) I am really looking forward to being able to finally sit down and stamp there today!

I needed a few quick Thank You cards, so I pulled out the Sale-A-Bration set Punch Bunch to make it's debut! For such a quick and easy card, I am really pleased with how these came out.

I made my first one in Regal Rose. I love this colour!

So I made it again in Rich Razzleberry.....gorgeous!

Last, but certainly not least, is Perfect Plum....although it is looking decidedly gray in my photo :-(

In real life, the Perfect Plum one is my favourite. It's such a neglected colour in my stash, but I do love it.

Remembering Thomas...3 months on...

Yesterday we held a memorial for Thomas at school. A plaque was unveiled and a beautiful Chinese Maple tree was planted in his memory. Today I want to share the photos with you. The quality of the photos aren't that great, because I forgot to take my camera and had to use my phone, but here they are:

The candles I made are identical to the ones I made to sit on his casket during his funeral:

All of Thomas's class mates were given a balloon to send up to heaven for him to play with again, as they did at Thomas's funeral. My son Dylan is on the far left holding the blue balloon:

The kids loved watching the balloons making their way up to Thomas in heaven, and watched until they were tiny specs in the sky:

And last, but not least, a close up of the plaque:

It will be lovely to watch Thomas's tree grow strong and tall. I know that each time I see it I am going to remember his cheeky smile and send some more love his way :)

I was having a look on splitcoaststampers at all the gorgeous cards that have been made using this Dasher stamp, and I fell in love with this card. As you can see, I didn't make many changes, just the ribbon because I didn't have the satin ribbon at the time (I do now!!!), and the sentiment I used was from Contempo Christmas. I saw the technique to make frosting for your stamped cupcakes a while ago, but have only recently tried it. I am so impressed with how it looks! Be prepared to see lots more birthday cards with frosted cupcakes!

Candles for my Uncle Alan

Two weeks ago my Dad's brother, Alan, passed away. He fought a courageous fight with Parkinson's Disease for the last 15 years, and while there is relief at his passing and knowing that he doesn't have to suffer anymore, we all miss him terribly, and find it hard to believe he is no longer with us.

The photo on this first candle was taken 27 years ago, at his surprise 50th birthday party. That explains why the quality isn't real great, but it is still a beautiful photo of Uncle Alan.

The photo on this next candle is my favourite photo, and shows Uncle Alan as I will always remember him. It was taken at my debutante ball 16 years ago (*gasp*.....was it really that long ago?????)

This last candle has a photo of Uncle Alan at a social event, but I am not sure where it was or even when it was. It must be around 15 years ago, because he was still well, and still looked like the Uncle Alan I know and remember.

The sentiment on the bottom of each candle comes from the now retired A Rose Is A Rose stamp set, and says:

Thank you for touching our lives

I don't think there are better words to use to send Uncle Alan off.

At the funeral service the candles were lit by my Dad, and his brother and sister. The service was beautiful, and I am sure he enjoyed it!

Rest in peace Unk.....you certainly earned it.

Contempo Christmas

Card for Thomas

I know that I have been seriously procrastinating about getting this done, but here it finally is.....the card I made with the kids in Dylan's class at school for Thomas's Mum and Dad.

Here's the front:

I used the same photo as the one I put on the candles. Here's the inside:

And a close up of all the kids hand prints:

The kids (and the teachers!) chose their own colours, and as you can see, they loved putting their hand print in the book for Thomas.

Thomas's parents loved it. I ended up making 3 of the candles, and they sat on Thomas's coffin during the service, which was lovely.

3 of the 6 kids in Dylan's class attended the funeral, and released balloons at the grave site....all willingly except for Dylan who didn't want to let his balloon go!

I am glad that I have finally posted this card.....now I just have to get my butt into gear and post some more of the things I have been making.

Remembering Thomas

So I know that it has been months since my last post, and I am not even going to try to explain what has been happening. Life has been crazy, and my mojo has been on some sort of holiday......sure hope it had a good time, because I really missed it.

It's not a happy time for us at the moment. On Sunday one of the boys in my son's class passed away. Thomas was 10 years old, and a real fighter. I think we are all drawing on his strength now to get through this time. The world certainly seems a dimmer place already without his cheeky personality and beautiful smile.

How do you tell your friend how much your heart hurts that she has lost her son? I don't know where I would ever find the words to tell her, so I made her a special candle.

I printed the words as well as the photo on the computer. The sentiment was taken from "A Rose is a Rose" stamp set, and reads:

Thank you for touching our lives

I am working with the kids and teachers in Dylan's class to make a special card for Thomas's parents, and will get that finished tomorrow. All of the children in the class are disabled and unable to write, or even understand that Thomas isn't coming to play anymore, so we had them all pick their colour paint today and put their hand print inside the card. I am hoping to get some photos before we give it to Thomas's parents on Friday at the funeral. I know his Mum is going to love it.

Fifth Avenue Floral Card Purse

Don't even ask what is going on here! Work is flat out, and Dylan and I have been at home with the flu for the past week, so NOTHING is getting done :-( No housework, no work, and - most importantly - no stamping :-( Hopefully we are at the tail end of it, and can get back to normal soon.

Anyways, today I want to share the card purse and cards we made at my last workshop. The ladies made 2 of each of the cards to go inside the purse.

The tutorial for this card purse was on UStamp a while ago now. It's really easy to make, and looks fantastic!

I love the simplicity of this card. I am so in love with this stamp set!

Once Upon A Time

I know.....I've been Missing In Action again.....but seriously, during school holidays any stamping time is few and far between. Dylan is back off to school today (can you hear the cheering?????), so I am hoping that I will get some stamping time in. Of course, I have to go to work first though :-(

Anyways....on with the show! I made this card a few weeks ago, but haven't had a chance to share it yet. I used the Once Upon a Time stamp set for the very first time, although it has been in my stash for quite a while now.

I love the simplicity of this card. I have embossed the words "...and they lived happily ever after" on the inside, so it would make a great wedding or anniversary card. My big shot has been getting a good workout, although this embossing folder is not made for Stampin' Up!

Better go and get ready for work.

I am LOVING playing with all my new toys from the Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue! I brought Cottage Garden in the new Clear Mount, and I must say that I am converted! All my stamp sets from now on will be Clear Mount!

The Rich Razzleberry is absolutley gorgeous! Can you tell that I am in love with it? LOL! It's a pity we only have it for the next 4 months, but it's better than not at all, and I am sure I will be making the most of it!

Fifth Avenue Floral CASE

I was wandering through the Fifth Avenue Floral gallery over at Splitcoaststampers, and fell in love with this card as soon as I saw it. So simple and elegant...I had to make one of my own....

Doesn't it just make the best Mother's day card? I think so! And.....if it looks that good in Melon Mambo, how good is it going to look in Rich Razzleberry?????

Just as good as the Melon Mambo one, I think! This was surprisingly quick to make, and I will be making a batch of them for Dylan's school to sell at their Mother's day stall.

Another borrowed stamp set, but one I think I am going to need to add to my own collection! In the catalogue, For the Bride did not appeal to me at all, but as soon as I used it I fell in love with it!

She looks so elegant embossed in gold, and the Rich Razzleberry paper finishes it off perfectly. I have used a cuttlebug embossing folder in the background, but I am sure it would look just as elegant with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.

A while ago I saw this card over on Danielle Daws blog, and fell in love with it. Danielle has the best tutorial for the Crayon Resist Technique as well, so make sure that you check it out.

I will be really sorry to see this stamp set go at the end of the month, but at least we have all the new goodies in the new mini catalogue to play with! Not to mention the three new in colours that we have to play with over the next four months! I am in love with them, and you will be seeing so much made using the Rich Razzleberry paper! Love it!

It feels so good to be able to stamp again! I made this card for the Just Add Ink challenge a couple of days ago, but haven't had a chance to post it until now. I have used Close to Cocoa, Regal Rose and Pink Pirouette together, which is the colour combination I seem to be choosing regularly at the moment!

It was lovely to get out my NEW Manhattan Flowers embossing folder to have a play with! Isn't it just beautiful? You will find it in the new Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue from the 1st of April, along with a tonne of other things that are just to die for! I'm back.....with Butterflies!

I know you all thought I had fallen off the face of the blogosphere! Life has been pretty crazy lately, with Dylan being in hospital having his new feeding tube inserted (I will share photos of that soon), and working in the office again instead of from home, so not much stamping has been happening here :(

I actually made this card about a month ago, but hadn't had time to even get it off my camera, let alone share it with you. I love the clean and simple layout (so my style), and will be sorry to see this stamp set go at the end of this month. I have my fingers crossed it will make it into the new catalogue in September!

Butterfly Prints

I have done so well resisting the urge to buy the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set from our main catalogue, but when I saw the gorgeous creations everyone was making with the new Butterfly Prints stamp set in the Summer Mini catalogue, all restraint went out the window! Butterfly Prints arrived a little over a week ago, and I finally had some time to play with it yesterday while Dylan was out with Yooralla.

It's a very "girly girl" card, but I am happy with how it came out. I used Versamark and Stampin' Pastels to colour the butterflies, and punched them out with our Butterfly punch! So quick and easy! I have so many creations bookmarked to case with this stamp set, and am hoping to sit down tonight once we have packed Dylan off to Very Special Kids (for TWO WHOLE NIGHTS of bliss!!!!!) and have more of a play. I'm not picking Dylan up until Tuesday morning, so I will certainly be making the most of this time!

Gift Voucher and Birthday card

A couple of weeks ago a client of mine (hi Bec!) rang to ask if I would make a gift voucher for her friend's birthday. As her friend is also my sister-in-law, I thought I had better make it special! I am really pleased with how it came out, and am going to have to make another one of these cards, because I am so in love with it!

Here's the cover I made for the gift voucher! Loving those flowers, and a big thanks to Karen for teaching me how to make them:

I have actually cased Karen's card, which you can see here. I changed the colours and added designer paper to match the gift card, and changed the sentiment a little as well. It isn't all that often that you make a card that you are completely in love with....but this one is it for me! The flower makes an amazing embellishment! It was fairly quick to put together, which is great, because I think everyone is getting one of these as their birthday card this year!!! Just kidding....but who wouldn't want to receive this card hey?

Christmas already???

To make sure that I am not still making Christmas cards 2 days before Christmas this year, I signed myself up for the 2010 Christmas Card Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers. I signed up to make 10 cards per month, but you can choose to make as many or as little as you choose. I should end up with more Christmas cards than I need, and plan to donate the extra's to Very Special Kids. I am also using this card for the Clean and Simple Challenge #51, which is to use designer paper.

So, last night, I finished off my Christmas cards for January!

I made 10 cards all the same, so it didn't take all that long to put them together! Now they are safely sitting in my card stash, waiting for December to arrive...and I'm sure it will be here befrore we know it! Let's just hope I am organised enough by then to actually write in them and get them posted before Christmas!

The designer paper is from the I wish simply scrappin kit, and I have teamed it with Real Red, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White. I used my markers to colour on the stamp, which is from the Christmas Classics set. I don't know why I didn't use this set more last year...I think I was just too in love with Snow Swirled! I was really tempted to get that out last night, but made myself use something else! I'm so glad that I did!

I have been meaning to get a photo of this very special pressie ever since it arrived a week ago, but each time I remember to get the camera out it is too dark to get a good photo.

I got this from a wonderful friend and fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Tanya Kitto. Isn't she talented? I was so excited when the postie came to deliver it...especially because I wasn't expecting a delivery! Tanya has used the Razzle Dazzle set from the Summer Mini Catalogue, which wasn't even on my radar before, but now I am falling in love with it...and it's on my wish list! The note cards are absolutley gorgeous, and I love the Bravo Burgandy ribbon and rhinestone brads Tanya has included in the box. If you check out Tanya's blog and scroll down to the ESAD-SU Blog Hop post, she has made several more of these sets using the Sale A Bration stamp sets. They are just as beautiful as this set, so definitely worth checking out! Here's a close up of one of the cards in the set:

Just Add Ink Colour Challenge

I have struggled all day with making this card! I am not really sure if I like it or not, but I thought I would share it with you anyway.

My layout comes from Sketch Challenge 264 over at Splitcoast Stampers, and my colours from the very first colour challenge over at Just Add Ink, a new challenge blog hosted by Aussie and NZ Stampin' Up! demonstrators. I love using challenges for inspiration. It really gets the creative juices flowing! It is also fantastic to see what everyone else comes up with using the same colours or the same layout.

The colours used are So Saffron, Taken With Teal, Rose Red, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White. It would have been so much easier without So Saffron, but I think that I made it work. I got my Stampin' Pastels out, which I haven't played with in quite a while, so it was lovely to use them again. I really do need to get them out more often!

Mojo Monday #122

I have finally made my card for this week's Mojo Monday sketch challenge! I was certainly wishing for the scallop oval nestabilities while I was making this card! Mmm...maybe one day! I am happy with how my card came out anyway.

I have used Upsy Daisy for my card, along with Baja Breeze and Urban Garden designer papers. I've added the birthday sentiment, so I can add it to my birthday card stash for this year!

I must scoot off...I have a few gift vouchers to make now, and I want to get them out of the way so that I can get some more challenges done. There are so many amazing challenges out at the moment...I think I need a full week of stamping just to keep up with them all! If only..........

Pretty Butterfly

Just a quick post to share with you one of the cards that the ladies made at our workshop last night. My card was inspired by this card, which is just gorgeous! Unfortunately we don't have the same gorgeous paper that they have in the US, but our Designer Papers look just as good!

I love cards that are quick and easy to make, but still have the WOW factor! I loved this cards so much, that I made it again using Taken With Teal and the Forever Flower's wheel.

I love both of these cards, but I think I like the second one better! I think the white craft ink on the Taken With Teal paper just pops...like Karen's card over on Splitcoast Stampers. I'm sure this would look fantastic using Elegant Eggplant as well...might have to try that one!

I finally have a card to share with you today! I haven't dropped off the face of the earth, just been really busy with school holidays and preparing everything for our workshop tonight. I am really looking forward to catching up with this wonderful bunch of ladies and having some stamping time!

The card that I am sharing today is super super super simple....yes....even for me! It took me longer to get the ribbon in the right spots than it did to do the rest of the card!

My new Heart to Heart punch arrived yesterday, which I have been dying to play with. It has been on my wish list ever since the current catalogue came out, along with the Full Heart punch, which also arrived yesterday! I love having new toys to play with! I love the ribbon behind the punched out hearts! I was inspired by a card in the Summer Mini Catalogue, but haven't cased it because I don't have the catty with me (I'm stamping at mums house in the peace and quiet while Dylan has a carer today!).

Mojo Monday #121

I had been hoping to play with this Mojo Monday sketch a lot earlier, but I haven't found a lot of time to stamp this week :-( Not to worry, I have had a chance to play today, and this is what I have come up with!

I did have it in my mind to get the cupcake from Wagon Full of Fun out, but I have used it so much lately that I figured I really needed to use something else. If the cupcake card stays stuck in my head, though, you might just see it on here in the next few days! Anyways, I have pulled out A Good Egg, which is soooo cute, but really doesn't see ink very often.

I have coloured the chick's in using a blender pen and water colour paper (gotta love it!), and added Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds over the shells to make them stand out. I really enjoyed making this card...must be the colouring in again!

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 51

I made this card for this weeks sketch challenge over at The Sweetest Thing. It doubles as the card we are giving to Mick's cousin at her birthday dinner on Sunday night. I have really struggled with what to make (I don't really know her...Mick's Mum is Maltese, so there seems to be rellies everywhere!), and everyone I have asked has said that she likes horses. That really doesn't help...I don't own any stamp sets with a horse in it! Here's hoping that the next best thing to horses is alcohol!!! I'm not 100% happy with it...don't you hate it when what is in your head just doesn't come out the right way when you finally get to make it? Hopefully she will like it anyway.

I dug out the trusty Cheers To You stamp set, which hadn't seen ink for a while, and coloured the drinks in with Tempting Turquoise to match the designer paper. I have used Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds on the drinks and umbrella's to finish it off.

It has been way to hot to do anything, except stamp and browse splitcoaststampers! While I was there last night (read: very early hours this morning!) I found this card and had to case it straight away! I had to change it up a little bit, because I don't have the Happy Everything stamp set (Of course it is on my wish list though...), but I am still really happy with it! I love two step stamping!

Mojo Monday 120

I have been looking at this Mojo Monday sketch all week thinking about what I was going to make with it...and here is what I came up with. I have changed the circle to a square, but other than that I have stuck to the sketch pretty closely. The photo isn't fantastic, it was taken at 8:30pm last night and daylight was almost gone, but I really wanted to pop in and show you what I made!

I have used the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set again, which is quickly becoming one of my favourites! Although it looks like blue in the photo, I have actually used Almost Amethyst and Old Olive with Very Vanilla. I seem to be choosing purple a lot lately, and Old Olive has been a favourite for a long time!

I am later than I had hoped in posting this card...but I've been playing with my new laptop ALL day, and just can't get it to work properly. So, while I am waiting patiently (but growing more and more impatient by the second...) for HP to call me back again, I'm sitting on my old dinosaur and thought I would share the card I made for the Clean and Simple Challenge 48 over at Splitcoaststampers.

Build A Roo is yet another stamp set I have had sitting on my shelves for a while that had yet to see ink, and as soon as I saw the challenge to make a clean and simple Valentine's day card, I knew I was finally going to use it! I hope you like it!

3"x3" Note Card Tote

I have been a busy bee, haven't I? I just made this cute little bag to hold 3" x 3" note cards, and wanted to share it with you! It was really nice to use Pocket Silhouettes again, as I haven't had it out for a while, and it is still one of my favourite stamp sets.

I saw the tutorial for this bag over on Splitcoaststampers quite a while ago, but this is the first chance I have had to make it. I'm really happy with how it turned out!

I made 3 note cards to go inside, each using a different flower from the Pocket Silhouettes stamp set. They are really simple, and I haven't stamped a sentiment on them...I think I would rather do that when I know what I am going to use them for.

Here's another card I made while I was away...yes...with no ribbon!! I have used the Forever Flowers wheel on the teal squares, and popped 2 vellum butterflies on each square. The butterflies have been finished off with a half pearl from the Pretties Kit, and look divine! For such a quick card, I think it looks really effective.

It's nice to be home again for a few days, and be able to make something with some ribbon! Can you believe with all the stamping stuff that I packed to take away with me that I actually forgot to pack ribbon? That's like forgetting to pack your toothbrush or something...in fact I think it is worse because at least you can buy another toothbrush when you get there.....

The card I am sharing with you today is a sympathy card using the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set. I have to admit that this is the first time this stamp set has seen ink. Oops! Better late than never! I just had to have it when I saw what everyone else was making with it, but then just never got around to doing anything with it. Now that I have started though, I think it is going to get a pretty good workout! The flowers are so elegant, it really is perfect for a sympathy card. I don't actually need a sympathy card at the moment...touch wood...but it doesn't ever hurt to have one in your card stash just in case.

Party Hearty

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years! We spent a very quiet night at home...which wasn't what was planned, but it was lovely anyway. We had been planning to head down to Portarlington to see the fireworks and take Dylan on some of the rides that they had at their fair, but after a sweltering day the weather turned nasty very quickly, and the rain, thunder and lightning soon convinced us that we would be spending the night at home instead! Mick and Dylan were both in bed before midnight, so I saw the new year in with some fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators on our private chat site over at NING. It was lovely to celebrate with the girls who made it to 2010 first over in New Zealand! We then celebrated again when those of us on the east coast made it to 2010! I did debate staying up long enough to see 2010 arrive on the west coast of Oz....but just couldn't quite hang out that extra 2 hours! So for a very quiet New Year's Eve, I had a fantastic evening!

So today I am sharing the birthday card I have made for my nephew who is turning 3 later this week. I have used the Party Hearty stamp set, which is great for making masculine birthday cards. My colour scheme was taken from the Washington Apple Designer Series Paper, even though I didn't end up actually using any designer paper. I quite like how the 3 party hats come out!

Washington Cupcakes

I just wanted to pop in and say hello, and share another birthday card I have made with you. Challenge 51 over at the Stampin' Up! Late Night Stampers Yahoo Group is brads, brads and more brads...so I thought I had better get some brads out! I've used Bashful Blue brads to match the cupcake stand. Everything else is in Pumpkin Pie and Apricot Appeal to match the Washington Apple designer paper. A really quick and simple card, which is all I am capable of in this heat. It's currently 38 degrees, and I am melting! I'm sure I was a snowman in a previous life!

Birthday Wishes

I need a few birthday cards for January, and this is the first one that I have made. The cupcakes are from the Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set. I used my markers and blender pen to colour them in, and added crystal effects and dazzling diamonds to finish them off. I gave this card last night at a birthday party, and she loved it. I am pleased with how it turned out, considering the limited supplies that I packed to bring away with me. I have already thought of a million more things that I could really use...maybe a trip home to get more supplies later in the week will be on the cards!!

Well, I had better go and get organised, we are heading out on the boat for some fishing this afternoon, so keep your fingers crossed that we catch something for dinner!!

I hope you all had a great Christmas. We had a lovely relaxing day here in St Leonards on the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria. My grandfather died 25 years ago, but my mum and her sisters kept the house, so we have been coming here for as long as I can remember. It's lovely knowing that any time we feel like getting away we can just pack up and be here an hour and 10 minutes later!

I was hoping to pop in and share the rest of the baby present I have been making for my Sister in law before Christmas, but I ran out of time :-( I finally finished making it this afternoon.

So this is the scrapbook page I made to announce Zac's arrival. I am really pleased with how it has turned out. I used the duck from Wagon Full of Fun and the Sweet Slumber specialty papers, just like on the box so that it matches...cos I LOVE matching! I have spelled out Zac's name with chipboard letters, and covered them with dazzling diamonds. I have had them for a while, but have only used them once before, so I think it is something that I need to work with a bit more often!

Of course, you can't have a present without a matching card! Out came the duck and the sweet slumber paper again! I have really enjoyed working with this duck, but I think I will be glad to put him away for a little while and play with something else!
